Cantonese Opera is the traditional Chinese opera composed of drama and art. Cantonese Opera started at the end of the Ming Dynasty and has a history of over three hundred years. Early in the Cantonese Opera, there were no female artists. All characters were performed by the male actors. Later, female artists were permitted to take part.
