Lamma island is situated at the southwest of Hong Kong, and in contrast to Hong Kong is a peaceful and tranquil, with beautiful natural scenery. Buildings higher than three storeys are prohibited on Lamma island and there are no roads and hence, no automobiles (exception - fire trucks and ambulances). The community´s only transport - foot or bicycle. Lamma provides an alternative to the busy life-style in the city. It is popular with younger people and a haven for artists, cartoonists and musicians. The different communities live together quite peacefully and successfully.
