Milan Cathedral (Duomo)
![]()
One of the most famous cathedrals in Europe. It’s probably on the top of the list of city’s visitors. It’s situated on the main square in the center of the city. The building is 157 meters long and can accomodate 40,000 people.
The construction of the Cathedral was initiated in 1386 by Antonio da Saluzzo. The actual construction works started in 1389 under the guidance of Nicolas de Bonaventure, French engineer and was continued by others for many years who made various additions and reconstructions. The last details were completed in 20th century. Officially the Cathedral was announced as completed only in 1965. |
