The Capitoline Hill is one of the most famous and highest of the seven hills of Rome. The existing Capitoline Hill ansamble was created by Michelangelo Buonarroti in 1536 - 1546. The central place takes the Palazzo Senatorio ("Senatorial Palace") that had once housed the archives of ancient Rome.
